UK: Tesco Trials Giant Interactive Touch Screen in the Run Up to Christmas

Tesco has been testing a 80 inch interactive touch screen in its Cheshunt Extra store since late october.

Shoppers are able to use the technology to browse the full range of toys available on, filtering what’s available by age, gender and price. They can then place an order by printing a ticket for Click and Collect or by using their mobiles, via a QR code on the screen or by sending a text message to get a weblink.

The solution – named Endless Aisle – gives access  to more than 11,000 products.

The touch screen has been provided by u-touch in collaboration with Computacenter. The application was designed and developed by the retailer’s in-house R&D team.

The pilot project, which builds on Tesco’s recent trial of a virtual grocery store at Gatwick Airport, will run for three months.
